Sunday, May 18, 2003 PLACES TO GO: MINNEAPOLIS FARMER'S MARKET The weather in Minneapolis is ripe for the Farmer's Market. The first venture is under the belt. Today's farm fresh goodness was a dozen eggs, broccoli, buffalo jerky, tomatoes and 3 varieties of Wisconsin cheese (Hickory Gouda, Bacon Cheddar & Friendly Garlic) from Drangle's. The gentleman running the Drangle stand told us this was his 25th year at the Market. The Minneapolis Farmer's Market has something for everyone. This year, over most, I noticed a huge amount of Moroccan-type goods. Lot's of handbags and dresses. The colors & asparagus are plentiful this year. Though, Johann tells me the brat guy has "gone over the top" this year with his cheese (and I'm not talking about the kind you eat). The Minneapolis Farmer's Market's history extends back over 125 years. The market holds about 175 vendors at any given time. In the late 1930's the market was host to a chaotic 400+ vendors. There have been plenty of success stories resulting in grass roots starts at the Farmer's Market. One of tastiest salsas got it's start at the market, read more. This year, I plan on making many trips to the market. I've got the energy and the desire for the freshest and the best. We stopped in at the Select Comfort store at Ridgedale mall yesterday to find our "sleep numbers". We got a great demonstration from an honest to goodness, no pressure sales person. That's comfort. We tried out 3 beds, found our sleep numbers and entered to win a VW Beetle. When it comes time to invest in another bed, it will be a Select Comfort bed.
